1 The Department of General Internal Medicine provides clinical services to NW Ohio and SE Michigan for general disorders. The mission of the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences includes educating students, residents and fellows and developing research programs related to general disorders. Position type:
This is an academic, full-time faculty position requiring a combination of teaching, patient care, research/scholarship, and administrative activities. Responsibilities
Teaching: Actively participate in the Department’s educational programs, teaching medical students and residents. Responsibilities include teaching pre-clerkship medical students in classroom and clinical settings, participating in medical student lectures, departmental teaching conferences, postgraduate courses, and mentoring students and residents. Include didactics for students, residents and fellows, and involvement in departmental conferences such as Morbidity and Mortality Conference, Grand Rounds and Journal Clubs. Research/Scholarship: Participate in research and scholarly activities related to area of expertise with expectation of intramural and extramural grant funding. Administration/Service: Participate in administrative and/or service functions of the Department, College of Medicine and Life Sciences, or teaching hospital committees as reasonably required. Communication And Other Skills
Ability to successfully teach and mentor medical students, residents and fellows. Experience collaborating with specialists to diagnose health issues and address patient conditions. Experience working in a team of healthcare professionals to ensure positive patient experiences. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Education/Experience/Licensing
Minimum Qualifications:
The faculty member must be an MD/DO who has completed a residency in general internal medicine and, if applicable, a fellowship. The candidate must be Board Certified or become Board Certified within 3 years of hire and must meet institutional requirements for appointment to Assistant Professor. Conditions Of Employment
