Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Engineer I, Applied AI. In this role, the incumbent will contribute to the growing, mission-critical effort within Langone to bring state-of-the-art HPC capabilities to researchers and clinicians. This is a full-time, benefited position.

Job Responsibilities

Deploy applications for the HPC research software stack to ensure proper interfacing between hardware and software layers.

Assist end users with HPC activities within the MCIT infrastructure.

Collaborate with MCIT departments to complete projects and diagnose issues within the infrastructure.

Monitor, identify, and repair issues within the HPC system environment.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director, Langone HPC.

Perform HPC systems administration tasks.

Coordinate with vendors to support and maintain the HPC environment.

Engage in customer support, including ticket-based troubleshooting and working with individual users on runtime and code debugging, profiling, and optimization tasks.

Provide user training and develop reference materials for using applications.

Develop performance metrics and instruments to gather information about research derivatives enabled by Langone HPC.

Develop in-house software for systems usage monitoring, statistics gathering, and accounting activities.

Implement hardware solutions and create software platforms for collaborative activities within and outside of NYUMC.

Optimize runtime environments and design pathways for efficient execution of jobs in the Langone HPC environment.

Provide hands-on systems integration support.

Engage in software performance engineering to ensure HPC resources are used efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated understanding of HPC engineering and systems administration.

Advanced skills in Linux/UNIX systems, programming, and distributed memory cluster administration on HPC platforms.

Familiarity with large-scale parallel file systems.

Thorough knowledge of a wide spectrum of HPC technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in integrating complex hardware and software solutions in an HPC environment.

Proven ability to debug, profile, and optimize complex parallel scientific codes.

Proficiency in managing parallel file systems and Object Store solutions.

Expert knowledge of advanced networking technologies including InfiniBand and OmniPath interconnects.

Knowledge of MPI programming and MPI implementations on distributed memory clusters.

Extensive knowledge of HPC resource managers and schedulers (LSF and SLURM).

Experience with GPUs and accelerator technologies; proficiency in CUDA and OpenCL.

In-depth knowledge of scientific software libraries.

Knowledge of virtualization; familiarity with OpenStack or other private/public cloud technologies.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with New York state law on salary transparency. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $195,179.92 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
