Position Overview: The Xu lab at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall University, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research focused on the pathogenesis of Streptococcus pyogenes and Enterococcus faecalis, with an emphasis on understanding bacterial virulence mechanisms and developing innovative therapeutic strategies. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research that aims to advance knowledge in the field of infectious diseases and improve treatment options for patients, particularly those with diabetic and polymicrobial infections.

Responsibilities

Design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to bacterial pathogenesis and host interactions.

Utilize in vivo models, including murine systems, to investigate the complexities of bacterial infections.

Conduct molecular biology techniques such as gene expression analysis, RNA sequencing, and proteomics.

Collaborate with team members and other researchers to integrate findings and support ongoing projects.

Prepare manuscripts for publication and present research findings at conferences and lab meetings.

Assist in the supervision and training of junior lab members and students.

Contribute to grant writing and the development of research proposals.
