Description The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has an opening for post-doctoral fellow in the field of Environmental Microbial Biotechnology with a strong background in metal stress alleviation and omics technologies. The project focuses on exploring microbial communities and their molecular mechanisms for detoxifying and transforming heavy metals under environmental or engineered conditions. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing projects and develop independent lines of investigation within the scope of microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, and bioremediation. Strong expertise in biostatistical analysis and molecular biology is highly required. The postoctorate will perform experiments and analysis both in Morocco (UM6P) and in France (CEREGE, Aix en Provence).

Key Responsibilities

Design and perform laboratory and field experiments related to microbial remediation of metal stress.

Isolate, characterize, and manipulate microbial strains with metal resistance capabilities.

Conduct metagenomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic analyses to understand microbial responses to metal stress.

Apply biotechnological or bioaugmentation strategies to enhance remediation performance.

Publish findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists, chemists, and engineers.

Contribute to mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Education, qualifications and experience

Ph.D. in Microbiology, environmental engineering, environmental biotechnology, environmental science, or a related field.

Strong background and expertise in bioremediation techniques.

Proven expertise in multi-omics techniques.

Experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics and biostatistics

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with national and international partners.

Excellent communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal.

A track record of publication in well ranked journals.

Established collaborations with renowned international researchers in the field of environmental biotechnology.

Enthusiasm towards generating new ideas and passion for solving challenging problems that require complex creative solutions.
