Overview
The School of Social Welfare (SSW) in the College of Integrated Health Sciences at the University at Albany, State University of New York invites applications for one Associate or Assistant Professor tenure-track faculty position beginning Fall 2026. SSW seeks colleagues who believe in the mission of public higher education and are committed to developing and maintaining a vigorous research program in their area of interest, teaching undergraduate, MSW and Ph.D. courses across modalities (in-person, hybrid, synchronous, asynchronous), and engaging in university and professional service appropriate to rank. The successful candidate should provide evidence of commitment to or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds. There is a strong interest in attracting candidates with the qualifications and experience to contribute to the teaching of advanced clinical practice courses. This is a professional school position focused on preparing students for professional practice through the profession’s knowledge, skills, values, and cognitive and affective processes. Responsibilities
The teaching expectation includes excellent teaching abilities evidenced by teaching evaluations and the development and delivery of course materials. Teaching responsibilities include advising and mentoring students and teaching across programs (undergraduate, MSW and Ph.D.). The typical courseload is 2 courses per semester. Faculty should be able to teach across all programs and modalities, maintain course syllabi, revise curricula, manage courses in the learning management system (Brightspace), and participate in ongoing professional development in teaching and learning. Responsibilities also include weekly office hours and service to the university and profession appropriate to rank. Responsibilities – Research
Candidates are expected to undertake theoretical and/or empirical research and disseminate work in peer‑reviewed journals, reports, and conferences at local, state, national, and international levels. Engaged scholarship may be evidenced in research, teaching, or service and includes outputs that can be applied to social problems and issues faced by individuals and communities. Candidates are expected to provide service to the school, the university, the community, and the profession in support of the missions of the University, the College of Integrated Health Sciences, the School of Social Welfare, and the social work profession. MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization Minimum of two years of post-MSW social work practice experience Earned PhD in social work, social welfare, or a related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by August 15, 2026 Commitment to excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service Demonstrated strength and success in research productivity Experience teaching and/or developing courses across modalities (in-person, hybrid, synchronous, asynchronous) Ability to work within a diverse environment and to prepare students to work effectively in a world of increasing diversity and global social change Demonstrated ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community Demonstrated ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role Preferred Qualifications

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Assistant Professor 10 Months, A5; salary commensurate with experience.
