Assistant/Associate Professor, Biology - Health Studies
Fairfield University is a co-educational, comprehensive Jesuit university with a 200-acre campus located along the scenic shoreline community of Fairfield, CT. The Biology Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Health Studies beginning Fall 2026, pending final budget approval. Fairfield’s Health Studies Program is a large interdisciplinary minor that gives students the opportunity to learn about the complex issues related to the current and future environment of contemporary healthcare. Applicants who use computational data science, biomedical analytics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, and/or artificial intelligence to study human health and disease are especially encouraged to apply. The candidate must be able to actively incorporate undergraduate students into their research program. Teaching responsibilities may include Introduction to Health Studies, a Health Studies Capstone and an upper division Biology course in the candidate’s area of expertise. The teaching load is typically three undergraduate courses per semester with a possible course reduction to accommodate for leadership roles and responsibilities. Requirements: Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field by August 2026, show a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, and demonstrate the potential to develop an active and sustainable research program with undergraduate research students.
