The Family Literacy Program at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. The program's part-time lead instructors teach adults seeking a High School Equivalency diploma. These semester-based positions include classroom instruction and planning time. Responsibilities

Provide direct classroom instruction, including one-on-one tutoring in math/science or language arts/social studies to adults using approved High School Equivalency curriculum, student-centered teaching methods, and materials. Demonstrate knowledge of content. Foster an encouraging and supportive learning environment, respond to instructional needs, integrate pathways to career and higher education, and provide weekly feedback to students. Collaborate with lead teaching staff regarding curriculum, materials, testing, evaluation, and assist with lesson planning and class preparation. Create individualized educational plans based on learning needs and student goals. Fulfill testing, record-keeping, and reporting responsibilities. Use industry-standard software to track student progress, analyze performance data, and adapt instruction. Participate in staff professional development and training. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Duties

Affiliate faculty may teach classes in person or online, prepare course materials, grade student work, provide feedback, address student questions, and maintain office hours, in accordance with university policies. They must also comply with student evaluation and peer observation policies. Required Qualifications

Ability to teach online, in-person at offsite locations, and during daytime or evening hours. Experience teaching adults in Spanish and knowledge of High School Equivalency/GED exams, including digital learning platforms. Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, or similar digital skills to learn new learning management systems. Broad knowledge of instructional techniques and strategies. B.A. in Education or related fields. Two years of formal instructional experience in adult education. ABEA certification or willingness to obtain it within two years. Knowledge of current adult education theory and assessment tools. Ability to pass a background check. Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs. Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in adult education or related field. Understanding of College and Career Readiness Standards. Experience with contextualized/student-centered instruction. Familiarity with state-approved HSE exams (GED and HiSET). Intermediate conversational Spanish skills. Experience working with immigrant, low-income, and diverse urban populations. Experience working with diverse students and a commitment to equity and inclusion. Terms of Employment

Part-time, at-will employment on a per-credit-hour basis, dependent on budget and enrollment. Teaching will be in person at off-site locations in the greater metro area. Salary
