Works under general supervision to provide routine technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to particular field of science. Responsibilities

Assists in conducting experiments and working on research problems in such fields as physiology, bacteriology, tissue culture, chemistry, and other related fields by performing basic, routine, and least complex procedures as prescribed by supervisor. Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus. Records resulting data in accordance with established methods. Confers with supervisor concerning results obtained, and modifies procedures in accordance with instruction of supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications

Strong foundation in bioinformatics tools and workflow automation (Snakemake, Nextflow, nf-core). Experience with machine learning applications in biomedical research. Familiarity with genomic datasets, especially related to retinal and vision biology. Proficiency in version control tools (e.g., Git/GitHub). Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with supervisors and team members. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data management and documentation. Previous experience in academic or clinical research settings. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot computational workflows and optimize performance. Qualifications

Education: Completion of two (2) years of college or specialized training in histology, medical technology or relevant field or high school graduation including courses in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. Experience: 1 year of experience as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with completion of two (2) years of college or 3 years of laboratory experience including two years as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with high school graduation.
