Certified Athletic Trainer Responsibilities
Injury Prevention:
Develop and implement injury prevention programs, including stretching, strengthening, and conditioning exercises. Educate athletes, coaches, and parents on injury prevention strategies. Ensure a safe playing environment by monitoring field conditions and equipment. Injury Evaluation And Treatment:
Conduct thorough evaluations of athletic injuries. Provide immediate care for acute injuries, including first aid and emergency management. Develop and implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Utilize therapeutic modalities, such as ice, heat, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound, as appropriate. Rehabilitation:
Design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs to return athletes to full participation. Monitor athlete progress and adjust rehabilitation programs as needed. Communicate with coaches and parents regarding athlete status and return-to-play timelines. Coordinate with Physical Therapists Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records. Coordinate physician referrals and follow-up care. Inventory and maintain athletic training supplies and equipment. Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, parents, and school administration. Work within the scope of practice as defined by the state of Virginia. Attend practices and home games as determined by the athletic director, within the 20-hour-per-week scope. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or a related field. Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Strong knowledge of athletic injuries and rehabilitation techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with athletes, coaches, and parents. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings. Experience working with middle and high school athletes preferred.
