The Global Languages and Cultures program offers introductory courses in Arabic, ASL, Chinese, French, Mixteco, and Spanish, as well as a Spanish major, a Spanish minor, and certificate programs in Spanish. About The Position

The Global Languages and Cultures program at CI seeks applications for lecturer positions for the following languages: Arabic,

ASL , Chinese, French, Mixtec, and Spanish. Lecturer faculty typically teach lower-division classes (100-200). Lecturers are occasionally assigned to teach upper-division Spanish classes on an as-need basis. Minimum Degree Requirements

A master’s degree from an accredited institution in the language of specialization (Arabic,

ASL , Chinese, French, Mixtec, or Spanish) or a related field. Required Qualifications

Experience in teaching the language of specialization. Near-native or native fluency in both the language of specialization and English. A record of teaching effectiveness that reflects communicative language teaching practices. Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students. Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching online synchronous classes and face-to-face classes. Responsibilities

To teach assigned classes and carry out related duties, such as holding office hours, grading, and planning lessons. Application Deadline

California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year). Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. The University offers excellent fringe benefits. General Information
