Job Title: Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Lead Teacher Location: Indiana Math and Science Academy North, Indianapolis, IN Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year Position Type: Full-Time, Certified Staff Job Summary The Pre-K Lead Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality early childhood instruction while also leading and mentoring a classroom team, including assistant teachers and aides. This role supports the academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth of preschool-aged children in alignment with Indiana Early Learning Standards and IMSA North’s mission. The Lead Teacher serves as the instructional leader of the classroom and a model of best practices in early learning. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Design and deliver a developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned curriculum.

Lead classroom instruction that fosters exploration, discovery, and creativity.

Model and support differentiated instruction to meet a range of developmental needs.

Ensure effective integration of social-emotional learning strategies.

Team Supervision & Mentorship Guide, mentor, and evaluate assistant teachers and classroom aides.

Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining instructional quality.

Coordinate daily schedules, routines, and responsibilities among classroom staff.

Lead team meetings to discuss student development and classroom strategies.

Student Assessment & Documentation Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative tools.

Maintain detailed, confidential records of academic, behavioral, and developmental milestones.

Adapt curriculum and teaching methods based on ongoing assessment data.

Family Engagement Build strong, culturally responsive relationships with families.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student growth and classroom activities.

Facilitate parent-teacher conferences and encourage home-school partnerships.

Classroom Environment & Management Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning space.

Establish and reinforce consistent classroom routines and expectations.

Promote independence, cooperation, and respectful behavior among children.

Professional Development & Collaboration Participate in school-wide professional development and curriculum planning initiatives.

Stay current on early childhood research, trends, and best practices.

Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to support student success.

Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

Valid Indiana Early Childhood Teaching License or CDA with appropriate endorsements.

Minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience in a preschool or early learning setting.

Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience within an educational environment.

Preferred CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Familiarity with CLASS, Creative Curriculum, or other early learning assessment frameworks.

Experience working with English Language Learners and children with diverse learning needs.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions Indoor classroom setting with regular outdoor activities and field trips.

Exposure to student activity, classroom materials, and common school environmental elements.

Physical stamina to interact with young children (stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 30 lbs).
