Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, define, and address customer and business challenges using a systems-level approach Plan, design, develop, and test multi-domain devices and prototypes, integrating mechanical, electrical, optical, and materials components Lead and execute experiments: design of experiments (DOE), laboratory setup, data analysis, correlation with modeling, and interpretation of results Generate and communicate technical concepts, value propositions, and innovation opportunities in clear, actionable terms for both technical and non-technical stakeholders Contribute to the development of technical specifications, performance metrics, risk assessments, and validation methodologies Participate in process integration, scale-up analysis, and transfer of prototypes to pilot or manufacturing environments Document results for internal/external publication and knowledge management Support project planning, resource allocation, and team collaboration across D&S mission domains Maintain awareness of advances in relevant fields and proactively recommend new approaches, tools, or technologies Experiences/Education - Required

Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline; or M.S. plus significant (6+) or B.S. plus significant (8+) industrial experience in multi-discipline device prototyping and system integration Demonstrated ability to integrate hardware, electronics, and software in device/system prototyping Experience with experimental planning, mechanical assembly, device fabrication, and laboratory test setups Technical expertise spanning at least two of the following: mechanical design, electrical/electronics design, optical design, materials processing (glass, ceramics, flexible substrates), or manufacturing process development Strong data analysis, technical writing, and presentation skills; proficiency with inter-office tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams Excellent communication skills for technical and business audiences Experiences/Education - Desired

CAD experience (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD); optical design tools (e.g. Zemax, CodeV) Experience with control software (LabView, Python, C, C++, etc), automated assembly, or measurement system design Familiarity with validation protocols, scale-up, and transfer to manufacturing Track record of contributing to patent filings, publications, or industry benchmarking This position supports immigration sponsorship. Compensation : The range for this position is $81,561.00 - $112,147.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
