Overview
ESL Teacher: Help Solve The Literacy Crisis – FUNetix is seeking Hispanic ESL teachers to participate in paid research and development for the FUNetix ESL app (21ESL). Teachers will use the alpha prototype 21ESL app, based on the FUNetix 12 Hour Reading App, to teach Spanish-speaking students how to read, write, speak and understand English. The project involves collaboration with the UX Team and the Project Manager, with sessions recorded via Google Meet. FUNetix is an American Youth Literacy Foundation program focused on improving English literacy for children in the United States and globally. The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2008. Responsibilities
Use the 21ESL alpha prototype app to teach reading, writing, speaking and understanding English to Spanish-speaking students. Partner with the User Experience (UX) ESL Team and the Project Manager to guide the teaching approach and incorporate additional concepts and materials as appropriate. Record all teaching sessions via Google Meet on video for evaluative and compensation purposes. Adhere to the language approach: communicate with students primarily in Spanish, and use English when appropriate; English-only immersion is not required. Contribute to the development and refinement of the FUNetix ESL app and related materials through participation in the research process. Compensation provided to both the teacher and the student’s family for up to 12 hours of participation, regardless of modules completed. Qualifications
Native-level proficiency in Spanish or exceptional proficiency in Spanish. Ability to communicate in Spanish as the primary language with students; English usage as appropriate. Experience or comfort working in a virtual environment and with online collaboration tools. Willingness to participate in paid research and development activities for an educational technology product. About FUNetix
