HOME BASED SUPERVISOR/TEAM LEAD - DWIHN OUTPATIENT CLINIC JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY OF JOB:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Outpatient Clinics and the Director of Direct Clinical Services, the Home-Based Supervisor/Team Lead will oversee the DWIHN Outpatient Clinic Home-Based clinical staff. This role involves creating, directing, and implementing policies and procedures for the Home-Based Team and managing daily clinic operations. The position requires flexibility to perform duties outside traditional office hours to support the team and clients.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with the program administrator to oversee operations and staff for the DWIHN Outpatient Clinics Home-Based team.

Ensure staff compliance with agency and program policies and procedures.

Ensure adherence to the Outpatient Direct Service Clinic’s quality assurance program.

Participate in identifying quality care indicators and outcome objectives.

Guarantee that behavioral and pharmacologic treatments are evidence-based or based on accepted standards, providing services aligned with recognized treatment principles for each client level.

Ensure assessments, treatment plans, authorizations, and services comply with DWIHN-PIHP/CMHSP, MDHHS, 42CFR, Mental Health Code, and Home-Based requirements.

Provide and document direct clinical supervision.

Supervise and guide staff, including oversight of after-hours on-call rotations outside traditional hours.

Ensure behavioral health services are delivered as authorized and coordinated with other care services.

Oversee the clinical care of children, youth, adolescents, and young adults with co-occurring disorders, ensuring qualified staff and proper supervision.

Monitor staff and program performance through data collection and review.

Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer/Psychiatrist of Direct Services on medical activities and patient care.

Meet with clients and families as needed, including completing assessments.

Manage staff schedules and availability.

Monitor key performance indicators.

Support and coordinate mental health, substance use disorder, and co-occurring services.

Maintain workflow for walk-in clients and coordinate with PIHP departments.

Participate in DWIHN’s interdisciplinary team and community outreach events, occasionally serving as a speaker.

Contribute to staff education and provide clinical consultation.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S):

Knowledge of DWIHN policies, community resources, Michigan Mental Health Code, MDHHS policies, and federal regulations.

Understanding of behavioral healthcare management, treatment modalities, diagnostic principles, and evidence-based practices.

Familiarity with MHWIN, the Michigan model, and LOCUS model.

Experience overseeing clinical operations and direct care clinics.

Strong supervisory, management, leadership, organizational, and planning skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, active listening, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.

Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in team settings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

A Master’s Degree in Human Services, Social Services, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) years of professional clinical experience in behavioral healthcare or mental health.

At least one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience in a behavioral healthcare setting.

Thorough knowledge of home-based services and MDHHS reporting requirements.

REQUIRED LICENSE(S):

Valid Michigan clinical license (LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LLP, or PhD).

Valid Michigan Driver’s License with a safe driving record.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:

If driving is required, must meet DWIHN driving policy requirements.

Physical Demands:

May include close work, wrist/hand/finger motions, sitting, standing, walking, handling, eye-hand-foot coordination, use of vision and auditory senses, and lifting up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:

May be in an office or behavioral health facility, with contact with potentially agitated or confused individuals. Travel throughout the region may be required.
