The Division of Otology/Neurotology in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of South Florida seeks a board-certified or board-eligible otologist/neurotologist to join the Division as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a clinical practice in Otology/Neurotology and Lateral Skull Base Surgery at our primary teaching institution, Tampa General Hospital, and James A. Haley Hospital. The individual will have the opportunity to conduct basic science and/or clinical research. Applicants must have an M.D. degree, be fellowship trained in Otology/Neurotology, BC/BE in Otolaryngology, and a Florida medical license will be required. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities
Teaching Duties: Instruct residents and medical students in both in-patient and out-patient settings. Lecture at resident conferences. Participate in physical diagnosis, head & neck cancer screenings, and a variety of instructional labs. Research Duties: Conduct basic science and/or clinical research as applicable; meet minimum research requirements. Administrative Duties: Include assignments of activities related to department operations and committee assignments; participate on practice, university, and hospital-related committees as necessary. Clinical Duties: Treat patients in in-patient and out-patient settings primarily at Tampa General Hospital, the Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare (north campus) and James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital; participate in department, trauma, and ER call schedules; see patients with and without residents and/or medical students. Other Duties: Participate in faculty committees, projects, and other services to the University, Hospital(s), and community as directed by the chair. Essential Functions: Teach, research, provide service, and contribute administratively; may include academic advising and representation of the university, college/school, or department. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: M.D. degree; fellowship trained in Otology/Neurotology; Board Certified/Board Eligible in Otolaryngology; eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida medical license; completed residency; meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor. FLSB1310 Equivalency: 4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree; 6 years for a master’s degree.
