Overview

Sterling Search Partners is helping a River Region client with its search for an Accounting Manager. This position oversees the accounting operations of the financial services division, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial reporting and processes. This role is responsible for managing a team of accountants, leading the monthly close process, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits while driving process improvements and maintaining adherence to GAAP and regulatory requirements. Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the accounting team for the financial services division, including staff development, performance reviews, and daily oversight. Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and GAAP. Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, reclasses, and financial statements. Monitor financial performance by analyzing variances, reconciling accounts, and identifying trends. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and reporting requirements (GAAP, SOX, SEC if applicable). Coordinate and support external and internal audits, preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests. Develop, implement, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Partner with FP&A, Treasury, and business leaders to provide financial insights that support strategic decisions. Manage financial reporting for specialized financial products and services, such as loans, investments, or asset-backed instruments. Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements affecting financial services. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role. Prior experience in financial services, banking, lending, or investment accounting highly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Seniority level
