Job Description The Assurance Senior will coordinate the day-to-day "in-charge" duties of planning, fieldwork and "wrap-up" to include the preparation of financial statements with disclosures, applying GAAP as necessary, and documenting, validating, testing and assessing various control systems. This position may act as the client contact for basic questions and information and may be involved in reviews and agreed-upon procedure engagements. Responsibilities

Control Environment: Apply knowledge of transactional flow and key cycles to complete audit work; document, validate and assess design and operating effectiveness of the client’s internal control system; identify and communicate suggested improvements to client internal controls and accounting procedures; supervise and review the work of audit staff. GAAP: Apply governing principles to client transactions; communicate financial statement disclosure requirements; draft complex sets of financial statements with disclosures; recognize and apply new pronouncements; discuss alternative GAAP with the Manager/Senior Manager and client; identify complex accounting issues and bring them to superiors for resolution; coach less experienced team members. SEC and PCAOB: Understand SEC regulations and PCAOB guidelines; read and review client SEC filings; prepare communications to the Client and Audit Committee; plan and execute Section 404 internal control audits including understanding the control environment, designing test plans, evaluating deficiencies and assessing the overall control environment. GAAS: Apply professional standards and communicate understanding and application on engagements; formulate and communicate the audit plan; apply GAAS to complex issues; exercise audit skepticism; utilize audit manuals; document deviations from policy with approval. Methodology: Guide delivery of quality services by coordinating audit plan execution, following firm policies, and staying within budget; apply BDO audit approach and methodologies; identify and propose outcomes to critical issues. Research: Conduct information gathering from authoritative sources; perform routine and complex accounting research; document findings for audit strategy; assist in developing audit engagement planning materials. Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide feedback to Audit Associates and supervise their work within the engagement team. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or CPA eligibility with a bachelor’s in another field; Master’s degree in Accountancy preferred. Two (2) or more years of relevant audit experience; prior supervisory experience preferred. Eligible to sit for the CPA exams upon starting employment; actively pursuing completion of the exams; CPA preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with assurance applications and research tools preferred. Solid understanding of internal controls and professional standards (GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley); strong verbal and written communication; ability to multi-task; strong analytical and diagnostic skills; ability to work in a deadline-driven environment; solid project management. Knowledge of internal accounting controls and professional standards/regulations; ability to adapt messaging to audiences at all levels within client organizations and the firm. Experience & Licenses

Two or more years of prior audit experience; CPA eligibility and pursuit of CPA exams; CPA preferred. Experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services preferred. Software & Language

Microsoft Office Suite proficiency; experience with assurance applications and research tools preferred. N/A for language requirements. Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of planning and coordinating audits for basic public and/or private companies; knowledge of internal controls and professional standards (GAAP, GAAS, SOX). Strong verbal and written communication; ability to adapt to various audiences; able to multi-task and work independently or in a team; strong analytical and diagnostic skills; ability to meet deadlines; solid project management. Salary information: Individual salaries are determined after considering qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. California Range: $85,000 - $95,000 Colorado Range: $72,000 - $80,000 Illinois Range: $78,000 - $87,000 Maryland Range: $78,000 - $93,000 Minnesota Range: $70,000 - $80,000 Massachusetts Range: $81,500 - $90,000 New Jersey Range: $80,000 - $95,000 NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $80,000 - $115,000 Washington Range: $72,000 - $90,000 Washington DC Range: $80,000 - $100,000 About Us
