Safety Manager
with proven experience and a strategic, data-informed approach to workplace safety, environmental compliance, and risk management. Reporting to the Director of Insurance & Safety, this managerial role is instrumental in advancing a culture where safety is a fundamental value woven into every aspect of the organization. The
Safety Manager
will assist in enhancing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive warehouse safety program that aligns with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and industry best practices. This position is responsible for promoting safety awareness, fostering team engagement, and driving accountability across departments, while ensuring full compliance with all applicable safety regulations. This role involves collaborating with the Director of Insurance & Safety to conduct safety assessments, lead incident investigations, perform compliance audits, and ensure the effective implementation of programs and policies that support a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment. Not in the Spokane, WA or Coeur d’Alene, ID area?
No problem! If selected for this position, URM Stores will assist with relocation and temporary housing. Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in alignment with URM’s EHS standards. Maintain strong visibility on the warehouse floor to actively promote, support, and reinforce daily safe work practices. Champion a proactive, positive safety culture within warehouse operations. Partner with the Director of Insurance & Safety and Warehouse Operations teams to prioritize safety and compliance by identifying and applying industry best practices. Collaborate cross-functionally to implement EHS initiatives that drive operational excellence and employee well-being. Coordinate the necessary resources to ensure EHS requirements are clearly understood and consistently met across the facility. Conduct and coordinate regular EHS inspections and self-assessments to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Provide EHS oversight and risk mitigation support during the installation of new or modified equipment and processes. Partner with transportation leadership to assist and implement transportation safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other driver safety regulations. Participate in and support EHS audits and environmental monitoring (e.g., noise, chemical exposure) to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards. Assist the Director of Insurance & Safety with incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Engineering, and/or related field preferred. Or a combination of education and equivalent experience. Minimum 2 years of progressive EHS experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution setting. Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory frameworks. Foundational understanding of ergonomic assessments and risk mitigation strategies. Strong communication and leadership skills across all levels of an organization. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in food distribution, food manufacturing, or grocery environments. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred. Understanding of food safety standards such as GMPs, audits and/or regulatory inspections (e.g., USDA, FDA). Ability to collaborate with food safety and quality assurance teams to align EHS and food safety goals. Familiarity with cold storage, temperature control, and safe warehouse practices related to perishable goods. About URM Stores

Salary range $80,000 - $90,000 annually DOE plus so much more. Insurance Benefits – URM pays 100% of the Medical/Dental/Vision/RX Insurance premiums for the employee and over 93% for the employee’s dependents. 401k Retirement Plan with company match up to 9% of annual salary. Subsidized Life Insurance for employees and favorable rates for family. Company paid Long-Term Disability insurance. Short-Term Disability and Cancer Insurance available.
