Overview Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join Human Genetics and Targets within the Discovery Science department. This role focuses on discovering and validating novel drug targets for inflammatory diseases by leveraging cutting-edge genetics, -omics, and cellular approaches to drive therapeutic innovation in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

Identify and validate therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases, investigate disease mechanisms, and develop novel drug candidates.

Apply 2D/3D cell assays with cell lines, stem cells/iPS, primary or immune cells (macrophage/microglia), and advanced models like organoids and co-cultures to assess immune responses and cell interactions.

Perform mechanism-of-action studies using molecular and cellular methods such as cytokine analysis, Western blotting, flow cytometry, qPCR, immunofluorescence, and barrier assays.

Engineer human cell models using CRISPR and siRNA technologies for functional screening and mechanistic studies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Stay current with scientific literature, contribute to publication of research findings, and present at scientific conferences.

Mentor and train junior colleagues.

Minimum Requirements

B.S./M.S. in biological/biomedical sciences with a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in relevant fields; recent Ph.D. graduates will also be considered.

Proficiency in mammalian cell culture (primary, stem, immune, barrier models, etc.) and experience with complex 2D/3D in vitro models and organoids.

Solid background in molecular biology, immunology, and cell signaling, preferably with drug discovery experience in inflammatory or immune-related diseases.

Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in problem-solving, data analysis, statistical/bioinformatics tools, and attention to detail.

Able to work independently and collaboratively, adapt to shifting priorities, demonstrate learning agility, and maintain a strong passion for science.

Desirable Skills

Experience with advanced omics platforms such as spatial transcriptomics, single-cell RNA-seq, or others; familiarity with machine learning, systems biology approaches, and population-scale genetic datasets.

Experience in conducting genetic functional studies using primary human or rodent cells and in vivo murine inflammation models.

Prior experience in inflammation research, particularly neuroinflammation or intestinal inflammation.

Demonstrated track record of scientific publications and conference presentations.

Salary and Compensation The salary for this position is expected to range between $85,400 and $158,600 per year for Senior Scientist I, and $93,800 and $174,200 per year for Senior Scientist II. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like relevant skills and experience and will be reviewed periodically after joining.

Additional Compensation and Benefits Your compensation may include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility for annual equity awards. U.S.-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and additional benefits. A generous time-off package is available, including vacation, personal days, holidays, and other leaves.
