AZAD Technology Partners is seeking an Archaeologist to function as a Cultural Resource Specialist within the Environmental Historic Preservation organization. The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional knowledge in inventory, evaluation, protection, and management of prehistoric and historic resources. This position will require the ability to balance and prioritize multiple assigned projects and interact with a wide variety of internal personnel and management, as well as federal, state, and tribal officials and other interested parties.
This is a 4-month plus consultant position with high probability of long term and ongoing continued employment. This position is hybrid with onsite 1 - 2 days weekly as needed in Portland, Oregon with up to 50% field travel including approximately 4 overnight trips each month throughout the service area of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, western Montana, Nevada, California and Wyoming.
The hourly pay rate range for this position (which includes a health and welfare fringe benefit of $4.93) is
$37.93 - $38.93 .
The Ideal Candidate Must Possess The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or directly-related field is required.
With an applicable Bachelor's or Master's degree, 5 years' professional work experience or equivalent specialized training in archaeological research, archaeological administration or archaeological management is required. An applicable Bachelor's or Master's Degree may count for up to 3 years of the experience required, at manager discretion.
A minimum of 2 years of professional archaeological experience is required.
Relevant Professional Work Experience Must Include
Two years of full-time professional experience that demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional archaeology, including field experience in surveys, excavation, laboratory analysis and preparation of written materials. Time gained in an archaeological field school can count towards these two years, at manager discretion.
6 months of supervised field and analytic experience in Columbia River Basin archaeology.
Working knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and section 106 of the NHPA.
Experience in conducting archaeological field inventories and producing written technical reports.
Preferred Skills
Archaeological experience within Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Nevada, Wyoming.
Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act.
Understanding of GIS and GPS technology.
Knowledge of reservoir impacts to historic properties, electrical transmission systems, and fish and wildlife mitigation programs.
