Summary
Balfour Beatty Construction is seeking a Project Accountant to join our large projects team in Texas. This individual will have the option of reporting to our Dallas or Fort Worth office.
The role involves providing accounting and administrative support for construction projects from startup through closeout, serving as a liaison between the jobsite and finance department. Responsibilities include managing contracts, bonds, insurance, payables, liens, billings, payroll, cost/budget reports, and sustainability reporting for the project team.
Essential Functions
Project Accounting
Provide project status updates and communicate between field and corporate office.
Ensure accuracy of job cost and accounts receivable reports, maintaining balance with the general ledger.
Classify information properly in the project cost system to facilitate effective use.
Identify and escalate issues related to project cost systems.
Enter all financial paperwork into the accounting system promptly and accurately.
Process purchase invoices and ensure supporting documentation is correct.
Collaborate on monthly billings and projected final cost reports.
Subcontractor Management
Process subcontractor pay requisitions and verify supporting documents.
Maintain subcontractor/vendor records and verify insurance certificates before work begins.
Project Administration
Maintain organized filing systems and files for EEO and MBE compliance.
Handle administrative tasks such as mail, supplies, payroll, and communications.
Promote Customer Relations
Build effective relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Culture, Leadership, and Employee Development
Promote company values and serve as a professional role model.
Participate in training and self-development initiatives.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred, or equivalent experience, with 2+ years in construction accounting preferred.
Proficiency in accounting principles and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and proficiency with PC and Microsoft Office tools.
Working Conditions
Work primarily on construction sites in trailers or structures.
Wear appropriate PPE as required by safety policies and weather conditions.
May need to relocate to different project sites as needed.
