Overview
GM Performance Power Units – Concord, NC Title: Senior Accountant Department: Finance Job Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing, managing and improving accounting procedures, providing accurate financial reporting and supporting financial decision-making. This role plays a key part in month-end and year-end activities, including generating journal entries, account reconciliations, implementing and maintaining internal controls and financial analysis. To include other ad hoc duties as assigned. Responsibilities
Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, including journal entry adjustments as necessary. Prepare balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statements, and other financial reports as necessary. Monitor and enforce internal controls and accounting policies; recommend improvements. Generate general ledger reconciliations. Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies. Support audits (both internal and external), including preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial regulations and GAAP (or local accounting standards). Mentor and guide junior accounting staff; review their work. Collaborate with other teams (e.g. operations, sales) to collect needed financial data. Participate in process improvement initiatives and systems / technology upgrades. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA or equivalent preferred. 5–7+ years of accounting experience, with progressive responsibility. Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP). Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and IFS preferred) and MS Excel (advanced level). Experience with month-end, year-end close, audits and financial statement preparation. Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication skills — able to explain financial information to non financial staff. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. Experience with audit (internal or external) and SOX or compliance oriented environments. Nice to Have
Experience with ERP system implementations or upgrades. Experience in manufacturing and intercompany accounting. Familiarity with FIA regulations. Why Join Us
