Overview
Full-time non-tenure-track faculty at a rank consistent with qualifications. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in curriculum development and teaching within the College of Medicine (COM) Department of Biomedical Sciences, with particular emphasis on immunology and pathobiology. The position offers an opportunity to influence the academic experience of medical students, foster innovation in medical education, and contribute to a collaborative learning environment. Curriculum Leadership, Teaching, and Service:
Provide leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the medical school curriculum in the areas of immunology and pathobiology. Collaborate with faculty colleagues to ensure integration of basic science with clinical education in the delivery of engaging, evidence-based instruction, such as interactive case-based sessions, small-group learning facilitation, and other active learning formats. Provide formative and summative assessments to support student learning and progression and serve as a resource for students needing additional guidance in the foundational sciences. Evaluating the success of curriculum leadership and teaching contributions may be based on student achievement, student evaluations, curriculum/course director evaluations, and peer evaluations. Ongoing success in teaching activities is essential to maintaining a faculty appointment. Active participation on college and university committees will be required and assigned. In addition, membership and participation in state and national professional organizations is strongly encouraged. Evaluating the success of service obligations will be based on level of participation and engagement in support of related activities. Research and Scholarship:
Depending on the candidate’s scholarly interests and track record, engage in educational or biomedical research. Disseminate findings through presentations and peer-reviewed publications. Pursue extramural funding opportunities when appropriate. Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent) in immunology, pathology, biomedical sciences, or a related field. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the medical school or graduate level. Experience or strong interest in curriculum development, innovation, and leadership. Preferred Qualifications
Board certification if candidate is a clinician. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills to support collaborative work with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and the university. Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet evolving educational needs and technologies. Research and Scholarship: A record of scholarly productivity is preferred but not required; scholarly expectations will be tailored to the applicant’s background and professional trajectory.
