The role may be located in the West Chester, OH office or remotely in KY, WV, IN, MI, WI, IA, ND, SD or surrounding states, and will underwrite and maintain renewal portfolio in an assigned book of business, including post-issuance transactions (policy changes, cancels, reinstates, reinsurance, etc.). Underwrites renewal business within authority to maintain profitability in accordance with rate and retention company standards. Responsibilities

Monitor renewal production, profitability, and maintain agency relationships. Utilize underwriting authority to independently decide on renewal accounts within granted limits; establish terms and pricing and negotiate with retail agents. Review and underwrite fast-track renewals within authorized limits and provide guidance to associate underwriting staff. Make sound risk and pricing decisions to achieve profitable loss ratios. Maintain underwriting quality score of 90% or greater; document files to support acceptability and pricing per guidelines. Meet designated customer service standards. Provide guidance to associate underwriters to ensure policy delivery aligns with quoted terms and conditions. Review post-transaction requests for acceptability up to the authority granted. Review inspections to confirm written accounts align with preliminary underwriting information and take action as needed. Use underwriting tools to determine acceptable risk characteristics, accurate classifications, insure value, rates, etc. Review policy audits and escalate to leadership as needed. Assist with training, mentoring, and coaching of less experienced team members. Proficient knowledge in Commercial General Liability, Commercial Property and Commercial Excess Liability; assess exposure and form/verbiage decisions on renewal accounts. Take on special projects to advance underwriting knowledge across departments. Consult with new business about territorial market conditions and state-specific nuances affecting underwriting decisions. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to uphold standards of excellence. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. Advanced insurance coursework is a benefit. Minimum of 5 years of commercial lines experience; Excess and Surplus experience preferred. Ability to exhibit informal leadership across the team. Basic knowledge of Windows programs (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience working in a paperless environment and with online underwriting tools is preferred. Additional Details
