Overview Highly motivated and innovative research associate with molecular biology experience to support development of Omega Bio-tek DNA & RNA purification reagents.
What you will do
Works independently or within group to design and perform experiments to properly execute management initiatives
Troubleshoots experimental results from laboratory technicians
Properly documents laboratory test and results
Plays a key role in department goals and project deadlines being met
Ensures that all company, industry, state, federal safety standards are being followed including OSHA, EPA and waste management
Develops experimental plans to properly improve or achieve desired results
Helps train laboratory technicians
Interacts with senior laboratory personnel to review progress and resent results
Ensures laboratory is clean and equipment is being properly maintained
Developing, optimizing and performing assays such as for qPCR, PCR, NGS or ELISA applications
Revise and update SOPs, as directed by manager
Follow established company SOP and ISO 9001 Guidelines
What you will need
MS or PhD degree in life science area or equivalent experience
3+ years post-degree molecular biology laboratory experience. 5+ years with MS
Able to obtain full face respirator certification upon hire
What you will bring
Experience with DNA & RNA extraction, PCR and qPCR
Preferred experience with Next Generation Sequencing workflows

About Omega Bio-tek OUR HISTORY: Since its founding in 1998, Omega Bio-tek has been at the forefront of nucleic acid purification by offering products for clinical and basic research, biotechnology, and agricultural applications. DNA and RNA extraction is the first step for so many downstream analyses, and efficient and clean nucleic isolation is crucial. Our goal is to offer high-quality products to help you improve your workflows.
For the best option for all of your extraction needs, we offer multiple nucleic acid extraction chemistries including magnetic beads, silica membranes, and salting out. These three different methods are available in a wide range of different kits and configurations for a total of over 900 products.
Omega Bio-tek’s headquarters are located in Norcross, Georgia, about 25 miles outside of downtown Atlanta. We own and operate a 38,000 ft2 facility. We offer products for manual and automated processing and we support our customers by having Hamilton Microlab STAR, Beckman Coulter Biomek FX, and Thermo KingFisher instruments in-house.
