BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the appropriate Dean, this position is a part-time temporary instructional faculty assignment. The role is suitable for an exceptionally motivated candidate with a genuine interest in engaging with a diverse student body and a passion for fostering academic growth and knowledge. REPRESETATIVE DUTIES:
Provide instruction in accordance with the approved Imperial Valley College curriculum and established course outlines, based on the college's needs. Assignments depend on class availability, seniority, and qualifications, including conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, developing course syllabi, assessing student learning outcomes, and related duties. Maintain and submit accurate records by published deadlines (grades, syllabi, attendance reports). Uphold standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position. Advise students on academic matters. Maintain competency in the field. Applicants may qualify through education and experience equivalent to the listed degrees. To qualify via equivalency, submit college transcripts and a detailed work experience description with your application. Minimum qualifications include: Master's in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography, or paleontology; OR Bachelor's in geology
AND
Master's in geography, physics, or geochemistry; OR the equivalent. Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (AB 1725, 87360a).
