Tax – Business Tax Services – Private Tax Partnerships – Senior

The opportunity

EY Private Tax is a growing practice within the organization, serving privately held companies from family-owned businesses to private equity owned companies. These are high growth private companies, including start-ups to multi-billion-dollar global private companies. With a diverse portfolio of challenging work, you’ll engage in technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and have opportunities to progress to manager with ample support and training from knowledgeable colleagues.

Your Key Responsibilities

Support managers through partners in providing tax services, balancing time between compliance and planning, and interacting directly with clients.

Work with clients focused on flow-through entities (i.e., partnerships) to develop trusted advisory relationships across multiple teams.

Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. partnerships, including foreign reporting for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, and foreign affiliate reporting).

Provide tax research, draft memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.

Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Managers and Senior Managers.

Liaise and develop relationships with other service lines and subject matter professionals.

Build effective long-term relationships with clients, understanding their needs to provide tailored service.

Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.

Maintain professional knowledge by updating and sharing technical and best practice insights.

Review the work of junior staff and identify risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.

Skills And Attributes For Success To qualify for the role, you must have

A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with tax, business, or financial planning experience.

Active progress towards or completion of CPA certification or membership in The Bar.

Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, with the confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum of 2 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.

Willingness to work in a balanced hybrid environment and travel as needed.

Ideally, you will have

Commitment to continuing learning.

Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA, or Lexis Nexis.

Experience with Gift, Estate and Trust tax planning and compliance is a plus.

What We Offer You

Comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary ranges: $82,000 to $135,200 (US-wide); $98,500 to $153,600 in NYC Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento). Salaries depend on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Total Rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k), and a broad range of paid time off.

Team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model with most client-serving work in person 40-60% of the time.
