Entergy Services, Inc.-ESI (OLD) Summary Affiliate Accounting and Allocations performs the affiliate billing functions of Entergy’s service, retail electric utility, and non-regulated companies. This group ensures that product/service costs are billed between affiliates fairly and equitably in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and applicable regulatory rules. This position supports the manager and departmental peers by performing accounting related activities, policy interpretation and application, execution of business processes and controls. It owns one or more key complex processes and supports project or process improvement initiatives. Responsibilities The position will be involved in various aspects of the affiliate billing and allocations functions, which may include the following: Performs assignments requiring understanding and application of accounting principles, practices, and concepts (e.g., preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, etc.). Financial statement and billing/allocation results analysis. Accepts ownership of business processes, accounting entries, and associated controls. Interface with internal and external customers, including functional business unit representatives, legal and regulatory representatives, outside consultants, regulatory commission staff, and auditors. Billing and allocation consultation on functional and cross-functional teams; includes interpretation of regulatory policy and applications. Support of affiliate testimony, schedules, exhibits, and requests for information regarding rate proceedings. Identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities. Minimum Requirements Minimum education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Desired: Advanced Degree. Minimum experience:
Accountant I - 0-3 years; Accountant II - 2-3 years; Accountant III - 3+ years of accounting or relevant experience. Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Utility accounting experience and working knowledge of the FERC uniform system of accounts desired; working knowledge of Entergy business and processes a plus. Cost accounting experience preferred. Knowledge of accounting controls and processes. Proficient in MS Office; strong analytical skills with ability to identify and resolve issues. Ability to work effectively independently or in a team. Certificates, Licenses, etc.:
Desired: Professional Certifications such as CPA or progress toward CPA.
