Brief Summary This Job:

Senior Underwriter

You\'ll Report To:

Underwriting Supervisor

What You\'ll Do Evaluate new business, renewals, cancellations and endorsements for Personal Lines homeowners with a focus on growth, profitability and retention. The position requires proven strong task management and critical thinking skills marked by diligence and accuracy.

Review complex property inspection reports and communicate decisions with agents.

Provide definitive responses to agents on inquiries regarding underwriting guidelines, rules, and other correspondence as needed.

Act as a subject matter expert in all lines of business and assist with training as needed.

Provide superior underwriting and client service to agents and other company affiliates.

Analyze technical situations involving rate changes, policy form language interpretation and other matters as needed.

Assist with system testing.

Work with claims department in the handling of risk alerts and other policy investigations.

Review technical inspections including premier home inspections and sinkhole inspections.

Collaborate with agency management and territory sales managers on new business issuance, underwriting matters and problem solving.

Assisting the special projects team with the development of underwriting dashboards or other projects as needed.

Identify trends within an assigned territory and recommend appropriate underwriting, pricing and product action to the leadership team.

What You\'ll Need to be a Top Candidate Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management or other related field preferred.

Experience:

Eight (8) plus years of property and casualty insurance experience preferred.

Licensure:

Florida 20-44 license minimum requirement, with a preference towards Florida 2-20 license holders. CPCU preferred or actively seeking CPCU designation.

Skills & Knowledge:

Excellent client service skills and ability to critically think while utilizing resources to provide solutions.

Exceptional ability to use risk-based underwriting judgment in the review of new business and renewal underwriting reviews.

Experience with visiting and training agents on company products, services, and systems.

Knowledge of underwriting policies, procedures and practices, and state statutes.

Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge; must have a strong understanding of the Florida insurance marketplace.

Demonstrated ability to complete complex underwriting assignments while meeting deadlines and ensuring a high work accuracy.

Ability to communicate—exceptional listening, speaking and writing skills.

Schedule 8:30-5:30pm, M-F. #LI-Onsite

Working Conditions Normal business office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and/or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.

Travel Minimum, as required.
