Overview
The Controller plays a key role in overseeing all financial activities for the brand, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and providing valuable financial insights to support strategic decision-making. The Controller will provide financial analyses and subject matter expertise to continuously improve the company's financial performance and help ensure the brand's financial plans are consistent with organizational goals. Responsibilities
Oversee company-wide financial operations, ensure accurate financial records, implement financial controls, and provide strategic guidance to support financial objectives as the company continues its plans for high growth. Lead the financial close process, ensuring accurate and timely results in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting standards. Prepare consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, along with supporting schedules and disclosures. Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including executive management, investors, and lenders. Deliver financial results and key performance indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders and provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making. Establish and maintain effective internal control processes to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with audit standards and requirements. Lead business insurance renewal process and savings opportunities while managing risk. Establish good working relationship within the Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Treasury functions to ensure timely reporting and forecasting. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting organization. Ensure completion of federal, state, and local tax requirements, including income, property, sales and use, payroll, and other local taxes. Oversee activities with tax experts in the development of appropriate tax strategies and preparation of relevant tax return filings. Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly bank reporting and provide insights on variances to covenants or targets. Support the cash flow process and ensure timely input of inflows and outflows for modeling. Required Skills/Abilities
Strong understanding of accounting principles, including intercompany transactions and acquisition accounting. Proven track record of implementing and maintaining effective internal controls and driving process improvements. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights to support decision-making. Strong knowledge of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations required with a proven track record of driving operational efficiencies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with executive management, investors, and external stakeholders. Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. Experience integrating ERP or other technology solutions; Microsoft D365 is strongly preferred. Proven ability to build relationships and navigate cross-functionally. Exceptional attention to detail with solid understanding of systems and technology. Detail oriented with a high level of proficiency with Excel. Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting. Comfortable working in a changing and very dynamic start-up like environment. Strong ability to drive business opportunities in ABL collateral reporting to maximize value. Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting required. MBA preferred. Active CPA license required. Minimum 20 years of experience in finance-specific roles required, with 10 or more years of experience in senior-level accounting roles. Must have experience managing accounting teams. CPG experience required, experience working in a private equity-like environment preferred. Experience with Asset Based Loans and Collateral Reporting required. Salary $170,000 + Bonus Seniority level
