We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant / Accounting Assistant to support our finance team and help ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial processes. This role is essential to maintaining the strength of our organization as we continue to serve students and families across Dallas.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable: Process daily accounts payable transactions, respond to vendor and staff inquiries, maintain vendor files, and assist with preparation of annual 1099 forms. Accounts Receivable / Revenue: Record and track incoming payments, ensure proper coding and allocation of revenue, and support preparation of donor/grant financial reporting. Reconciliations & Reporting: Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, and assist with preparation of monthly financial reports. Month-End Close, Budget, & Audit: Assist the Director of Finance with month-end close activities, support preparation of the annual budget, and compile and maintain audit documentation. Payroll & Employee Support: Support payroll processing, record payroll-related journal entries, and assist with employee expense reimbursements. General Accounting & Compliance: File and maintain accounting documentation, ensure compliance with GAAP standards, and perform data entry and clerical tasks. Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a nonprofit environment. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. Familiarity with nonprofit tax regulations, reporting requirements, and budget development processes. Flexible work from home options available.
