Overview Pikes Peak Hospice has an immediate opening for a Bereavement Counselor.
Location : Colorado Springs, CO
Status : Part-time, 20 hours per week
Schedule : Flexible, some evenings hours for support groups & bereavement counseling activities
Pay Range : $29,328 - $33,488 annually (20 hours per week)
Supplemental Pay : Based on position, schedule and/or availability: Paid Mileage/Shift Diffs/Stipends
Mileage and Expense Reimbursement : Sixty-two and a half cents per mile – one of the highest in the industry!

Responsibilities
Provides grief counseling and support to bereaved children, adults, and families, as well as persons with a serious illness. Delivers continuity of care between the direct-care and the bereavement components of hospice services. Facilitates bereavement support groups and community outreach programs.
Ability to provide emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual support and services provided before and after the death of the patient to assist with issues related to grief, loss, and adjustment.
Conducts bereavement and ongoing assessments with proficiency and in a timely manner based on risk indicators for families/caregivers.
Develops and maintains bereavement plan of care for families in consultation with interdisciplinary team.
Provides crisis intervention, counseling, follow-up calls and referrals to community resources as needed.
Researches, organizes, directs and coordinates special grief and support services as assigned.
Delivers grief counseling, education and support to the community, as available through support groups, presentations and debriefing calls.
Follow up with Managers and/or Directors regarding reported complaints or matters of concern.
If Assigned To Work With Child(ren)
Knowledge of child development and counseling theories to promote age-appropriate healing.
Makes initial bereavement assessment and ongoing assessments to families with children in a timely manner based on risk indicators.
Offers grief counseling to children, teens, and families.
Delivers education related to children’s grief processes.
Provides education on children’s grief to the community, as available through presentations and public speaking engagements.
What We Are Going To Love About You
Minimum Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related discipline.
Minimum Experience: One to three years of experience as a counselor or social worker in a medical or mental-health setting (preferably home care or hospice); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required License: Colorado licensure in LCSW, LMFT, or LPC.
Valid Colorado driver’s license and proof of auto insurance per state statute.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 30 lbs.
