The Employee Relations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting and fostering a respectful, compliant and productive workplace by responding to and addressing employee concerns, providing guidance and support to both employees and leadership, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state labor laws and enforcement of company policies. The focus is to conduct and complete timely employee relations investigations, interview witnesses, review procedures/regulations, gather timelines and compile complete files for final review with the Director of Human Resources. This role involves detailed gathering and organizing documentation and records critical to investigations and human resources matters. Close collaboration with Operations leaders is required to respond to and address employee concerns fairly and consistently, contributing to a workplace that enhances retention and employee satisfaction. This role demands a high level of confidentiality, integrity, fairness, and the ability to make unbiased fact-based recommendations and decisions. Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and complete thorough and timely investigations of employee complaints, grievances, and other workplace concerns while ensuring fairness and legal compliance. Collaborate with Operations leadership to gather facts and document findings resulting in unbiased fact-based recommendations. Ensure all investigations, resolutions and policy enforcement are well-documented, accurate and confidential. Collect and analyze data related to employee relations matters to identify trends, areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to improve employee retention. Provide support and guidance to Operations leadership on addressing employee performance concerns and/or policy violations ensuring fairness and consistency. Serve as a point of contact for employees seeking guidance or support on employee relations matters. Track open cases as they are evaluated and appropriately actioned to include closeout of corrective actions. Oversee voluntary and involuntary separations, including termination meetings and analyzing exit interview data to identify and respond to trends. Prepare reports for leadership on employee relations trends and compliance matters, offering insights to reduce risks and improve employee engagement. Stay up to date on labor laws, and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications
Strong problem-solving, reporting and conflict resolution skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and attention to detail. Excellent documentation and organizational skills to ensure clarity, transparency, and legal compliance. Three plus years of employee relations, investigations and policy enforcement experience ideally within a commercial services or manufacturing environment. Proficient bilingual (English/Spanish) communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships and collaborate across all levels of the organization. Must have a high level of integrity, professionalism and tact, with a commitment to fairness and unbiased decision-making in all aspects of employee relations. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive matters. Ability to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple investigations and employee relations issues in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations with the ability to apply them impartially. Proficiency with HRIS systems (Paylocity strongly preferred) and the Microsoft Office Suite. Able to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet with employees on all shifts when necessary. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). Key working relationships
