Overview
The HR Business Partner I (HRBP I) supports the organization’s people strategy by providing guidance, coordination, and partnership to assigned business units. This role is responsible for assisting with employee relations, talent management, policy interpretation, and HR program execution. The HRBP I collaborates closely with managers and employees to foster a positive and productive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Engagement Serve as a first point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
Assist in investigating and resolving basic employee relations concerns under the guidance of the HR Director.
Support engagement initiatives and promote Thatcher’s culture and values across assigned sites.
Talent Management & Development Partner with leaders to ensure effective onboarding, performance management, and training initiatives.
Support the execution of employee development programs, succession planning, and leadership readiness efforts.
Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors on performance conversations and corrective actions.
Recruitment & Workforce Planning Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hiring needs and workforce planning efforts.
Participate in job description reviews, interview processes, and selection decisions as needed.
Assist with orientation and onboarding to ensure a positive employee experience.
Policy, Compliance & Administration Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and legal compliance in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
Support audits, reporting, and other compliance-related tasks (e.g., I-9, EEO, FMLA, ADA).
HR Programs & Projects Support companywide HR initiatives such as engagement surveys, compensation reviews, benefits enrollment, and training rollouts.
Partner with HR peers to continuously improve processes and the overall employee experience.
Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Experience 2+ years of progressive HR experience preferred; HR generalist or coordinator background strongly desired.
PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Proficiency with HRIS systems (Paycom experience preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Collaborative mindset with a strong focus on service and accountability.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to travel occasionally between sites as business needs require.
