Overview

BDO is seeking a consultant level professional to support project delivery activities for US Defense agencies. The individual in this position will provide financial improvement, transformation, and audit support services to improve the completeness, accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of a federal agency’s financial data in support of the overall objective to obtain an unmodified audit opinion. Job Duties / Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day client duties to include one or more of the following scope areas to support the client in achieving audit response and remediation objectives: audit facilitation; audit remediation strategy and implementation support; audit strategic communications, training, and change management; risk management and internal controls support; financial management policy and standardized business practices; financial system posting logic and annual general ledger updates; Federal Financial Management Improvement Act (FFMIA) compliance; system implementation and transformation audit support; and/or capability modernization. Supports management with meeting client project requirements and coordinates closely with engagement team management and client leadership on planning, execution, and status processes. Provides the client with professional Federal accounting and auditing solutions and change management support to progress toward an unmodified audit opinion of financial statements, including activities such as: supporting audit response and liaison efforts with external auditors; conducting audit walkthroughs and supporting on-site testing; providing financial audit program strategy, integration, and reporting support; supporting corrective actions and best practices to resolve audit findings; collaborating with client stakeholders to understand system, process, control, and data needs for financial improvement; providing training, change management, and communication support for audit readiness and remediation topics; documenting risk assessments, processes, and controls; supporting controls testing and addressing identified gaps; assisting with accounting and financial reporting operations and data requests; conducting accounting standard research; assessing system compliance with applicable frameworks (e.g., FFMIA, FMFIA, ICOFR). Assists with the development of written reports, in-progress reviews, metrics, dashboards, presentations, briefings, deliverables, and status reports; participates in client and internal team meetings. Manages priorities and multi-tasking; communicates status to management and demonstrates ownership of assigned tasks. Stays current with technical skills through training aligned with client needs. Supports recruiting efforts by identifying and referring potential candidates. Other duties as required. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology/Systems, Business Management/Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Data Science, required; OR Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in another discipline with one of the listed certifications, required. Four (4) or more years of Federal (preferred) or commercial financial management experience, required. Two (2) or more years of Federal (preferred) or commercial accounting experience, preferred. Experience with OM&S, Inventory & Related Property, or Environmental & Disposal Liabilities (E&DL) is preferred, with related audit/SSAE 18/SOC 1 experience or environmental liability estimates as applicable. Experience with financial statement audits or audit readiness support preferred. Experience with FIAR Guidance, GAAP, USSGL, FASAB, SFFAS, CFO Act, FMFIA, FFMIA, ICOFR, GAGAS, and related DoD policies and procedures preferred. DoD financial management policies and procedures experience preferred. Active security clearance at least at the Secret level; or the ability to obtain/maintain such clearance; and one or more of the following certifications: CPA, CISA, CGFM, CDFM. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); advanced proficiency preferred. Ability to travel as needed for project assignments.
