We have a variety of schedules available. Part-time includes 18-34 hours per week; full-time includes 35, 37.5, or 40 hours per week. Schedule may vary by program but is typically Monday–Friday. Some programs may require evening and weekend availability; if that interests you, please let us know when we contact you. Hybrid in-office/remote work may be an option for many programs.

Responsibilities A Counselor at BestSelf Behavioral Health works directly with individuals facing mental health, substance use, or co-occurring challenges, using evidence-based and trauma-informed care practices. The Counselor will provide individual and group therapy, support services for families, and crisis counseling. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to perform comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, discharges, and appropriate client referrals. In times of crisis, counselors respond promptly and develop safety plans to ensure clients’ well-being. They embrace a harm-reduction approach to promote healthier choices and ongoing recovery. A Counselor’s workday is dynamic, inspiring, and rewarding.

Qualifications

Minimum Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or CASAC-T/CASAC-P required.

Professional licensure: LMSW, LMFT, MHC-P, CASAC, CRC, LMHC, LCSW preferred.

Knowledge of a variety of common intervention techniques, mental health diagnoses, substance use interventions and resources.

Excellent communication skills.

Familiarity with community resources to link clients appropriately.

Proficiency with Windows-based software applications.

Experience with Electronic Medical Records databases and basic computer skills.

Appreciation for cultural diversity and awareness of cross-cultural counseling issues.

Valid driver’s license, vehicle in working condition (with valid inspection, registration, and insurance), ability to travel between sites, and Defensive Driving Course (only applicable for some community and mobile programs).
