Overview

GRANT SPECIALIST III, OFFICE OF PROPOSAL, School of Medicine, Dean's Office. This role supports the Proposal Development Office (PDO) at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine by managing a portfolio of departments and overseeing a portion of yearly grant submissions. The position involves collaboration with faculty, outside institutions, and institutional leadership to develop grant resources, track submissions, and ensure compliance with university policies. Responsibilities

Serve as the administrative lead in the development of all components of a grant proposal, including negotiations and correspondence with outside institutions, communications with review officers as needed, and interfacing with Sponsored Programs for accurate and timely submission. Provide guidance and submission for external funding in the range of approximately $72M to $159M, and develop budgets consistent with sponsor requirements and Boston University policies. Interpret and document proposal requirements for faculty investigators and create timelines and action plans to ensure submission compliance with university submission policy, including obtaining, preparing and organizing required proposal documents (e.g., biosketches, letters of support, subawards, facilities descriptions, budget justification, etc.). Coordinate institutional approvals and submission information at Boston University and across partner institutions, ensuring compliance with federal and university policy, including identifying the need for and assisting in obtaining institutional support letters when required, and obtaining all applicable compliance forms and documentation of internal approvals (e.g., cost sharing, F&A waiver/reduction, internal forms) for university authorization to submit proposals. Interface with sponsor application systems and coordinate appropriate account access for principal investigators. Serve as a Pre-Award resource to all Chobanian & Avedisian SOM faculty and staff. Assist in development of training resources for faculty and staff on funding mechanisms, grant review, and other research development topics as needed. Undertake special projects as assigned by the Director and Associate Director. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; 5–8 years of relevant experience; master's degree preferred. Knowledge of grant/contract regulations and standard proposal requirements; familiarity with developing grant proposals, including large, complex, multi-investigator and/or multi-institutional projects. Organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, strong communication and customer service skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and trustworthiness to handle sensitive grant-related documents and maintain confidentiality.
