Paralegal (Top Secret Clearance Required) CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join a fast-paced team to assist with legal accounts. The Paralegal will support various aspects of the company’s portfolio and report to the Office of General Counsel (OGC).

Base pay range: $83,545.00/yr - $107,415.00/yr. This range is provided by CGS Federal. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities

Provide professional, accurate, timely, and reliable paralegal support reporting to the OGC, with tasks detailed to assist LITB or IALB. Work products are reviewed prior to submission; personnel may develop these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines. Adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.

Receive, prioritize, and process requests such as document review or requests for advice or legal technical assistance.

Research and locate responsive information documents; identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles.

Perform typical paralegal functions, including: moderately complex legal research; summarizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviewing case materials; and identifying potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation.

Prepare preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.

Assist in drafting and issuing legal documents (motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.); conduct legal analysis; review documents for relevance and privilege; assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.

Review materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege; prepare privilege logs; maintain documentation of records produced in discovery and case management functions.

Assist in drafting and issuing preservation notices and litigation holds.

Design, generate, and transmit reports regarding case assignments and productivity using case management databases.

Analyze and interpret requests from customers; research and gather material relevant to DU requests, including outreach and informal interviews to respond to discovery requests and interrogatories.

Assist in preparation of declarations; scan paper materials to save as image files (e.g., .PDF); conduct legal privilege reviews using discovery platforms; apply redactions to privileged information.

Review peers’ work for accuracy; provide constructive edits to ensure quality and thoroughness; support and collaborate with discovery team members.

Organize and maintain accurate records of assigned requests, including detailed case notes, discovery work plans, Excel metrics, and case information in the OGC-LITB case tracking database.

Prepare electronic and/or paper releases for customers; provide high standards of professionalism and customer service in all interactions with DU customers.

Prioritize and schedule projects to accomplish objectives; assist in representation efforts of the FBI in challenging situations.

Coordinate classification reviews with subject matter experts and perform overlays of material from classification review; serve as a consultant to Government employees regarding privilege application and document production.

Communicate with employees at all levels of the FBI to complete projects with professionalism; provide weekly status updates to management and periodic updates to Assistant General Counsels and other DU customers.

Conduct searches of FBI systems and databases to retrieve relevant documents or files (e.g., Sentinel, Internal Policy Office Policy Library and Policy Archives); support the Legal Hold program and information governance tasks related to technology and its intersection with the law.

Qualifications

Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed.

At least two years of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is helpful.

At least one year of experience in automated litigation support; strong working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and resources.

Excellent written and oral communication skills; thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.

Hands-on familiarity with computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, hardware), and eDiscovery tools and resources.

Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
