Senior Hardware Interaction Designer

to join the Interaction Architecture design team to create experiences that connect our members more deeply to their health and wellbeing. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Industrial Design, Engineering, Product, and Science teams to craft intuitive and delightful interactions between Oura’s hardware and software ecosystems. Interaction Architecture is an interdisciplinary team that bridges hardware and software using a blend of design and engineering to craft cohesive experiences. We unify ŌURA’s design language across physical and digital products and enable cross-functional teams to turn new ideas and technologies into real-world solutions. Responsibilities

Design and prototype user-friendly and accessible interactions for physical touchpoints (buttons, lights, haptic feedback, sensors) ensuring a seamless integration between hardware and software experiences Partner with Industrial Design, Software Product Design, and User Research teams to craft seamless, end-to-end integrated experiences Conduct research, user interviews, and usability testing to gather insights, identify pain points, and refine user flows across all touchpoints Develop and refine digital and physical prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, InVision, or other physical prototyping methods Collaborate closely with Product Management, Hardware and Firmware Engineering, and Science teams to align interaction goals with technical feasibility and user needs Establish and uphold hardware interaction patterns and best practices to ensure consistency and a cohesive user experience across software and hardware Explore and apply new technologies—including AR/VR, AI, haptic feedback, and IoT—to push the boundaries of wearable interaction design and enhance user engagement This is a San Francisco-based role

that involves regular interaction and collaboration with Oura colleagues in Finland and across the US. Regular travel between our Finland and San Diego offices is expected. Time zone considerations:

Finland's Eastern European Time Zone is 10 hours ahead of US Pacific Time (e.g. 7 AM PT = 5 PM EET). Regular meetings for this role can occur between 6-9 AM PT. Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you have: 5+ years of experience designing physical-digital interactions for consumer-facing hardware products A strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful interaction design across physical interfaces, smart devices, and connected ecosystems Deep understanding of human factors, hardware affordances, and multisensory feedback (e.g., haptics, gesture, light) Experience with digital and physical prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Arduino, CAD, motion simulation) Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Familiarity with mobile ecosystems and how physical devices integrate with software experiences Benefits

US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. Region 1 $162,000 - $203,000 A recruiter can determine your zones/tiers based on your US location.
