Overview The Portfolio Management Associate Agribusiness will be responsible for performing financial analysis and preparing underwriting documents to support complex, multimillion-dollar corporate credit requests including acquisition financings, working capital facilities, and other pro rata debt transactions. Such requests include obtaining initial approval for new credit exposure (i.e., revolving credit facilities, term loans, leases, foreign exchange products, derivatives products, and other ancillary products) and amendments to existing exposure. Additionally, the Portfolio Management Associate will take ownership of ongoing credit monitoring for a portfolio of corporate clients, reviewing legal documentation, and assisting product partners in cross-selling additional bank products. The Portfolio Management Associate will primarily work on syndicated loan transactions for large corporate and upper middle market clients, supporting the Diversified Industries and other industry coverage verticals within KeyBanc Capital Markets, as well as the Middle Market line of business.
Responsibilities
Lead the diligence process for new debt transactions.
Gather and analyze relevant financial data for clients or prospects, including spreading financial statements, historical performance, credit metrics, risks and mitigants, and creditworthiness.
Model future financial performance of clients and prospects, including downside scenarios.
Prepare thorough credit underwriting documents identifying credit risks and mitigants, industry concerns, market share trends, and financial trends.
Perform enhanced Leveraged Cash Flow due diligence, when appropriate.
Assist Syndications/Relationship Managers in structuring transactions, as applicable.
Work closely with assigned Acuityanalyst to leverage outsourced analytical support.
Lead internal credit discussions and respond to questions from Credit Executives as appropriate.
Manage the approval process for lending commitments, amendments, waivers, and consents, including making recommendations to Credit Executives.
Ensure compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.
Review legal documentation including credit agreements, guarantees, security pledges, and collateral, ensuring alignment with approvals; work closely with outside counsel as applicable.
Maintain documentation and necessary business records.
Monitor ongoing financial performance of portfolio companies and track covenant compliance.
Conduct periodic plant or site visits to monitor business conditions and attend client/bank meetings when appropriate; interact with clients’ C-suite.
Identify potential problem credits and work to improve the Bank's position in undesirable situations.
Prepare white papers on assigned industry segments, as requested.
Assist product partners in cross-selling additional bank products.
Required Competencies/Skills
Experience with / knowledge of secured and unsecured corporate cash flow lending.
Ability to accurately assess corporate creditworthiness and independently create a detailed underwriting package.
Competence in financial analysis and modeling, with formal training in financial accounting.
Familiarity with corporate banking products such as Enterprise Commercial Payments (ECP), Foreign Exchange (FX), Derivatives, etc.
Solid understanding of fundamental Investment Banking and Corporate Finance concepts.
Ability to plan, multitask, manage time effectively, and work independently with limited direction.
Comfort in a capital markets environment with short turnaround times.
Comfort with ambiguity and problem solving where no clear solution is obvious.
Ability to communicate professionally, competently, and persuasively in verbal and written formats.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in corporate credit Portfolio Management/Credit Risk/Relationship Management in Agribusiness.
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent work experience.
Skills
Demonstrates understanding of foundational accounting principles and the ability to interpret and analyze financial statements to assess a borrower's financial health; proficient with financial ratios to evaluate risk.
Ability to evaluate emerging and existing considerations and choose the best path forward using informed decision-making techniques in lending and business situations.
