Then the Engineer will need to be able to travel to any of the following locations and per diem and hotel costs will be covered by the client: Two locations in San Jose, CA Madison, WI A Commissioning Engineer is responsible for ensuring the proper installation, functionality, and performance of automated material handling systems at customer sites. This role involves collaborating with various teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers, subcontractors, and project managers, to oversee the entire commissioning process. Key responsibilities include verifying that equipment and systems meet design specifications, resolving technical issues, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Specific responsibilities may include: Supervising and coordinating electrical subcontractors: Ensuring adherence to engineering drawings, resolving discrepancies, and managing pre-commissioning activities. Verifying functionality of cabling and devices: Conducting tests, checking for proper installation, and documenting any deviations from design. Overseeing I/O checkout and industrial networking: Ensuring that the system's input/output functionality matches the design and that industrial networking components are correctly installed and certified. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues: Identifying and resolving problems related to electrical and mechanical systems, working with the project team to find solutions, and escalating issues as needed. Ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards: Adhering to requirements for safety, quality, and documentation. Managing project documentation and turnover: Maintaining accurate records of pre-commissioning activities, test results, and other relevant documentation. Communicating effectively with stakeholders: Providing regular updates on progress, issues, and resolutions to the project team, subcontractors, and customer representatives. Supporting training and knowledge transfer: Assisting with training electrical subcontractors on the pre-commissioning process and equipment. In addition to the technical aspects, a Commissioning Engineer is expected to be proactive, adaptable, and possess strong problem-solving skills. They should be able to work independently and as part of a team, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The role often involves significant travel and working extended hours, particularly during the project's on-site commissioning phase. 1. Electrical and Controls Troubleshooting (Including PLC Integration) Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to cabling, I/O, and PLC drivers Hands-on experience with industrial networking and control systems integration Critical for system commissioning, minimizing downtime, and ensuring accurate performance 2. Project-Site Coordination and Subcontractor Oversight Proven skill in managing electrical subcontractors, interpreting engineering drawings, and supervising pre-commissioning activities Ensures accountability, quality, and on-time delivery of each commissioning milestone 3.
