BE PART OF THE CONNECTION As a Principal Engineer I on the VLEO Regional team, you will be responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and testbed environments. You will work with Development, Integration, and Video Operations teams to provide a stable, healthy environment for QAM-based video development, integration testing, and issue validation across Mini-Charters and neighborhoods. You will be the sustaining team responsible for Lab head end components and Mini-Charter 1 Platform systems, managing configuration, troubleshooting, and supporting testing and validations to deliver initiatives with speed and velocity, ensuring cybersecurity compliance. You will manage three sub-components: Core-Video, Spectrum Guide Platform, and CPE, advise leadership, lead project initiatives, and participate in business-as-usual activities.

WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST

Engineering activities for operating, maintaining, and enhancing Video Operations applications, control plane, and encryption systems including DAC, RADD, EC, KLS, BST, SDM, vDCM, OM, ARPD, Bulk Encryptors NE3K, and others.

Supporting efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Working within the Active Video ecosystem supporting Spectrum Guide.

Integrating communication architectures, hardware, software, and protocols into complete network configurations.

Fault restoration and troubleshooting of Encoders, QAMs, Edge QAMs, Multiplexers, Set-top Boxes, VOD systems, and more.

Leading and supporting testing of firmware, software, and hardware for Spectrum's video solutions.

Implementing standard processes and procedures for system upgrades and maintenance.

Identifying and correcting monitoring and alerting gaps to prevent outages.

Providing updates to leadership and mentoring team members.

Collaborating on scripting and automation to resolve issues and improve processes.

Ensuring project estimates and delivery schedules are met.

Supporting field implementation of video network projects.

Analyzing and revising system logic and documentation as needed.

Mentoring technical staff and reviewing work plans and designs.

Following company policies and performing other duties as requested.

Maintaining accurate system architecture records.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM Required Qualifications

5+ years of engineering work experience

5+ years of project management experience

Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience

Basic knowledge of industry standards (IEEE, ANSI), fiber optics, bridging, switching, routing, Ethernet, and transport technologies

Basic knowledge of network design, architecture, protocols, and topology

Basic knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI Model

Experience with ticketing and support software tools

Basic knowledge of network devices and designing software like Visio

Excellent communication skills and ability to work with all levels of business users

Experience collaborating and building team consensus

Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently

Proficiency with personal computers and software applications

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn new technologies quickly

Travel flexibility for office environment

Full-time schedule with hybrid work model

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Spectrum products and services

Understanding of RF, broadcast, and cable industry

Experience leading engineering projects

Experience working in an Agile environment

Ability to communicate technical information effectively to diverse audiences

Preferred Education Industry and vendor certifications (Arris, Cisco, SCTE, CableLabs) are preferred.
