BUILDING CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR I - WAILUKU / KAHULUI, MAUI - (OHHI) – State of Hawaiʻi This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, an expedited hiring process designed to fast-track qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai‘i. Duties Summary

This position independently inspects the construction of buildings and structures of simple design to determine whether construction methods, practices, materials and workmanship conform to the provisions of contracts, agreements, plans and specifications; and perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Legal Authorization To Work Requirement The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Basic Experience/Education:

Work experience which demonstrated the ability to read, comprehend and understand oral and written instructions, write simply and directly, and perform arithmetic computations. Graduation from high school, or equivalent, may be substituted for the work experience. General Experience:

TWO (2) YEARS of journey-level experience in the building construction trades, which demonstrated knowledge of the FULL RANGE of specialized knowledge, skills, abilities and practices used in such trades, including knowledge of building construction methods and materials and safety requirements and practices, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches. Substitution Allowed:

Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply. Salary and Conditions

Salary:

$5,359 to $5,944 per month (SR-16, Step C to I). Salary includes Shortage Category Differential. Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors. This continuous recruitment may be closed at any time.
