The Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician performs clerical and communication functions on the assigned nursing unit. S/he monitors patients for arrhythmias and alerts proper personnel as needed. S/he provides courteous reception on the nursing unit and coordinates activities for patient care.

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
Required Training / Certifications
Completion of an EKG or Rhythm interpretation course
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) card from the American Heart Association
ED/Geropsych: AB 508 Certification (if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
EKG course required. Successful candidate must pass rhythm recognition exam
Minimum Experience / Knowledge
Minimum of one (1) year current experience as a Unit Secretary and Monitor Tech in an acute care setting is preferred
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of medical terminology
Data entry computer skills
Details The hourly rate range for this position is $26 to $32.99. When extending an offer of employment, USC considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and applicable laws and contractual considerations.
