We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Linux Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Systems team. This role is ideal for individuals with foundational experience in Red Hat Linux administration, Ansible automation, and Red Hat Satellite platform management. The successful candidate will support system operations, contribute to automation initiatives, and assist in maintaining a secure and stable infrastructure.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Linux Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Systems team. This role is ideal for individuals with foundational experience in Red Hat Linux administration, Ansible automation, and Red Hat Satellite platform management. The successful candidate will support system operations, contribute to automation initiatives, and assist in maintaining a secure and stable infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Monitor and maintain system performance, availability, and health across Red Hat Linux environments.

Apply patches, updates, and security fixes using Red Hat Satellite for centralized lifecycle management.

Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions in accordance with security policies.

Configure and support core system services (e.g., SSH, firewalld, SELinux, cron, logging).

Troubleshoot system-level issues including boot failures, disk usage, and network connectivity.

Register and provision systems via Red Hat Satellite; manage activation keys, content views, and lifecycle environments.

Assist in maintaining Satellite server health, including repository synchronization and capsule monitoring.

Participate in backup and recovery operations using enterprise tools and Linux-native utilities.

Automation & Configuration Management (Ansible)

Develop, test, and maintain Ansible playbooks for system provisioning, configuration, and patching.

Use Ansible roles and inventories to manage multi-environment deployments.

Collaborate with senior engineers to improve automation workflows and reduce manual tasks.

Maintain version control and documentation for automation scripts using Git.

Operational Support & Collaboration

Respond to service tickets and incidents related to Linux systems and automation tasks.

Work closely with network, security, and application teams to support infrastructure needs.

Participate in On-Call rotations and assist in root cause analysis for system outages.

Maintain accurate system documentation including architecture diagrams, SOPs, and configuration records.

Learning & Development

Stay current with Red Hat, Satellite, and Ansible technologies through training and certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE).

Shadow senior engineers to gain exposure to advanced troubleshooting and architecture design.

Experiment in lab environments to test new configurations and automation scripts safely.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

1–2 years of experience in Linux system administration, preferably with Red Hat.

Basic experience with Ansible and Git.

Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite or similar lifecycle management platforms.

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Certifications

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation

Purpose of the role It takes a passion for technology to develop and iterate on innovative solutions to problems. Working collaboratively and creatively as part of the hybrid-cloud infrastructure team, you will partner with others in product and technology to contribute to the patterns, guidance and design for building and deploying hybrid-cloud infrastructure to support our customer facing applications. You should have strong communications skills, a strong sense of ownership, a passion for customer service, and the technical understanding of how the cloud platform can contribute to the overall successful of our infrastructure development.

Work Authorization Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.

Work Arrangement This role will be based out of Plano, TX and will have a hybrid work arrangement.
