Senior Wind Technician - Travel (United States)

The Senior Wind Technician – Travel is a critical and active role to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, required maintenance, safety, quality control and warranty repair(s). The Senior Wind Technician – Travel partners and communicates with the Resource Manager and Site Leadership to execute on contract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with the GE Vernova Way! Essential Responsibilities:

Work with Resource Managers and Site Leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth on a daily basis which include any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generators across North America. Help in all areas of site preparation (coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision. Participate in pre-job meetings to discuss schedule, weather, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), hazards, and jobsite / customer requirements. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on wind turbines including perform diagnostic electrical analysis. Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct wind turbine malfunctions. Document all work performed using company provided technology. Qualifications/Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent, and Minimum of 4 years experience as a Wind Technician and Passing a technical knowledge assessment OR

Minimum of 4 years of work experience as Electromechanical Technician and Passing a technical knowledge assessment. Requirements:

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Willingness to travel and travel as required 100% of time. Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs. unassisted and climb towers of 300+ feet regularly. Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required climbing gear. Understand electrical schematic and drawings. Interpret technical manuals, maintenance instructions, and repair procedures. Adhere to internal policies and EHS regulations. Ability and willingness to work in range of outdoor environments and customer facilities to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities. Flexibility to work weekends, travel to a job on short notice, rotating shift schedules, and on-call per site needs. Desired Characteristics:

Associate degree in a wind energy, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or electromechanical field from an accredited college or university OR technical certification in wind energy. Ability to work and communicate with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the wind site. Ability and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervision. Experience using electrical PPE and safety equipment for working at heights. GE wind turbine electrical/troubleshooting experience across multiple platforms Strong wind turbine mechanical work experience Experience using common wind industry tooling and a working knowledge of rigging practices and associated hoisting equipment.
