Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Senior Substation Electrical Engineer to join the Power Delivery team. This role involves direct client interface, project management, engineering, proposal development, and business growth activities. The engineer will ensure project execution in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, working closely with various departments and teams within Arcadis. The position includes coordinating with the renewable energy team, performing hands-on electrical engineering, detail design, and studies for utility and developer clients across North America. Collaboration with other renewable energy sectors is also expected. Role accountabilities:
Design and deliver substation projects at voltages from 4kV to 500kV, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence. Perform engineering, design drawings, studies, bid documents, procurement, and construction documentation. Support project estimates, proposals, client engagement, and business development. Coordinate with civil, structural, high-voltage protection & control, telecommunications, geotechnical engineers to develop complete design packages. Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, and Technical Lead to support regional business growth. Mentor junior team members and ensure quality assurance/quality control. The role may involve up to 25% travel within North America and internationally. Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred. At least 8 years of relevant experience in substation projects (4kV to 500kV). Experience with physical layouts, bus configurations, grounding, control buildings, and HV/EHV design and studies. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SKM/ETAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, and other engineering software. Knowledge of NEC, IEEE standards, and local codes. Preferred:
