Project/Senior Mechanical Engineer
— Arcadis is currently searching for a Project/Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our growing energy team. This position can be based in any Northeast U.S. location (New York or surrounding states). The role will help grow and deliver engineering design, energy efficiency, electrification, decarbonization, commissioning, renewable generation and other clean energy and energy-related projects throughout the U.S., with primary focus in the Northeast U.S. We are looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions for our clients. You will collaborate with experienced professionals, support project development, interact with clients, and develop your technical capabilities. Role accountabilities
Support or lead the execution and delivery of projects with a primary focus on the HVAC and plumbing design of systems identified through energy audits to support facility- or enterprise-wide decarbonization strategies. Review building and energy codes, perform load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, systems evaluation, and HVAC design and specifications. Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit for project drawings is essential. Support commissioning and construction management of energy efficiency projects to ensure systems meet owner requirements and comply with building codes. Gather information, evaluate, analyze, and support visualization of energy use data; perform energy efficiency, distributed generation, and alternative energy calculations; model buildings and systems; and conduct technical and financial calculations. Perform or oversee engineering analyses, modeling, and calculations to support feasibility studies, energy audits, sustainability plans, and detailed designs. Conduct field activities related to clean energy projects such as energy audits, lighting inventories, implementation oversight, and measurement and verification. Support business growth through successful project delivery, develop technical approaches for scopes of work, and maintain client satisfaction; communicate with task managers, project managers, teams, and clients; mentor junior staff; manage project schedules and budgets to ensure timely, cost-effective completion. Key Skills and Attributes
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solid work ethic. Excellent written and verbal communication; self-motivated and team-oriented with ability to work independently and in teams. Ability to mentor and support staff growth; flexible to take on new projects and challenges; dependable with proactive task ownership. Willingness to work a mix of office, field, and travel assignments. Knowledge of engineering concepts related to building/mechanical systems, energy efficiency, and clean energy technologies; knowledge of building control systems is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); proficiency in AutoCAD or Autodesk Revit is an advantage. Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in HVAC design and construction-related field. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree with proven work experience. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of prior work experience in consulting engineering or other business in the MEP or clean energy sectors. Nine paid holidays and 15-20 days of PTO accrue per year. Salary range for this position is $107,200-$201,700, with actual salaries varying based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
