Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position focuses on the mechanical design and development of custom and standard conveyor and material handling equipment for the package and pallet conveying industry. The work is project-based with diverse equipment and applications. Ideal candidates will demonstrate full technical competency and the ability to own a design from start to finish. Responsibilities
Develop custom and standard conveyor solutions using 3D modeling and sheet metal techniques that fit project and company standards while considering fabrication, assembly, maintenance, installation, and serviceability. Create accurate deliverables for internal and external customers to specified standards within the project schedule. Collaborate with the team to improve safety, quality, and profitability by refining procedures and processes. Manage multiple projects concurrently. Prepare necessary details, dimensions, and calculations, applying applicable standards accurately. Prepare detailed fabrication and assembly drawings from the final 3D model and ensure data completeness on prints. Produce process documentation such as hand sketches, process sheets, and inspection plans. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Mechatronics. 5+ years of conveyor or machine design experience. Proven ability to develop unique solutions to new mechanical designs and problems. Thorough understanding of 3D design software; SolidWorks preferred. Programming experience for automation within SolidWorks is a plus. Working knowledge of power transmission products, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric motors. General knowledge of metal fabrication methods including machining and forming. Basic understanding of AutoCAD preferred. Proficient in MS Office. Experience with ERP systems (Epicor) a plus. Job Shop manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Ability to travel as needed (limited). Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship). Creativity: contributes to solution creation, participates in design and brainstorming, and suggests new technologies that benefit Industrial Kinetics. Design / Technical Analysis: develops detailed drawings with minimal supervision and conveys solution methods in design reviews. Engineering Tools: develops expertise in engineering tools and streamlines design activities. Systems Expertise: understands the impact of work on upstream and downstream processes. Organized and detail-oriented; collaborative, team-oriented, and capable of mentoring others. Proficient with Microsoft applications and ERP systems for manufacturing. Benefits
