Overview
Position Overview: We are seeking a Lead Power Supply Design Engineer to join our design team and support the growing demand for advanced power conversion circuit card designs. This role involves applying expertise in designing low- and high-voltage, high-frequency switch-mode power supplies while collaborating with senior power supply engineers and cross-disciplinary teams. The engineer will work closely with other disciplines to ensure that power supply designs meet stringent requirements for power, thermal management, emissions, and safety in alignment with overall system specifications. Responsibilities
Design and develop AC/DC and DC/DC power converters Develop power distribution architectures Design and analyze EMI filters Analyze analog/power circuits for stability, efficiency, power draw, and in-rush characteristics Write specifications and test approaches for power supply circuit designs Select components for discrete converter designs or modules for system integration Create schematics for analog/power circuits and support PCB design Conduct and participate in peer design reviews, design verification testing, and transition designs into production Perform analog and power testing in laboratory environments for development components and circuit cards Collaborate with digital, RF, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure overall project performance Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and 9+ years of relevant experience, OR Graduate Degree with 7+ years of related experience, OR In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of prior related experience Hands-on experience with power conversion design, power analysis, analog circuit simulation, and control loop stabilization Knowledge of high-frequency magnetics design, development, and manufacturing Proven expertise in AC/DC and DC/DC converter design, build, and testing Strong power analysis skills using MathCad, Excel, or similar tools Experience with electrical simulation tools such as SIMPLIS or SPICE Proficiency with CAD tools (preferably Mentor Graphics) for schematic entry and layout Familiarity with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-1399, and MIL-STD-461 standards (a plus) Experience with common laboratory equipment Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD security clearance (preferred) Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio Prior design experience in military or ruggedized industry applications Benefits
